9-11 Commemorative Service

The Kalamazoo Area 9-11 Committee will hold our community’s annual observance of 9-11 on Friday, September 9, 2022. While prior services have been held at Bronson Park, this year’s observance will take place on Soisson-Rapacz-Clason Field (Mayors Riverfront Park), 251 Mills Street, Kalamazoo, 49048.

A brief service of remembrance and reflection will take place at 6:45 p.m., prior to the start of the Kalamazoo United / Schoolcraft football game.

As we mark the 21st Anniversary of the Terrorist Attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, we will pause to remember the lives lost in New York City and Washington, DC. We will also remember the crew and passengers of United Airlines Flight 93, who by bringing down that plane, thwarted plans for even more death and destruction.  Of the nearly 3000 who perished that day, many were First Responders and ordinary citizens, who without hesitation, performed heroic acts that continue to inspire us today.

There will be no admission charge for those attending the 9-11 ceremony only. Please join us in fulfilling our promise to never forget.
