Apply to be a Zoning Board of Appeals Board Member

The Mayor of the City of Brighton is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Zoning Board of Appeals. All applicants must be a resident of the City of Brighton for a minimum of two years.

The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is a quasi-judicial body that meets once a month interpreting the zoning ordinance and makes decisions based on factual evidence presented. The Board makes decisions regarding variances to the Zoning Ordinance, variances to the Sign Ordinance, appeals of nonconforming situations, ordinance interpretations, and appeals of administrative decisions. The responsibility of the Board is to maintain the highest integrity of the ordinance while exercising the authority to vary the ordinance in each individual circumstance based on the applicant’s clear demonstration of a practical difficulty or unnecessary hardship.
