City Centre Flower Planting Volunteer Opportunities

The City of Portage partners with Kalamazoo in Bloom each year to plant and maintain flower beds in the City Centre area. Volunteers are needed to assist with two important tasks to create a beautiful display of summer blooms for residents and visitors to enjoy. To volunteer for either of the opportunities shown below or for more information, visit kalamazooinbloom.org/events or call Kalamazoo in Bloom at (269) 548-6232.

Flower Planting Days
May 17, 18 & 19 @ 9 AM
Volunteers are needed to plant annual flowers and mulch the City Centre and Portage Creek Bicentennial Park trailhead flower beds. Onsite registration starts at 9 AM in the Portage District Library parking lot. Bring a trowel, gloves, and bucket, if possible − extras will be on hand.  Water and snacks will be provided by Kalamazoo in Bloom!

Adopt a Bed
June through September
Sign up to adopt a flower bed in the Portage City Centre. Tend to your bed once a week throughout the summer. Responsibilities include weeding, deadheading and removing litter.

The City of Portage would not be the beautiful community that it is known as were it not for Kalamazoo In Bloom and the many volunteers who do this work every year.  Our thanks go out to you!
