Comstock Public Schools issued the following announcement on Apr 14.

Comstock Public Schools invites the community to take part in a groundbreaking event to honor beloved Comstock educator Dr. Robert P. Hamet. Join the Comstock Public Schools’ Board of Education at 5 p.m. on April 26 at Comstock High School’s athletic stadium as we break ground on what will be known as the Robert P. Hamet Athletic Complex.

Dr. Hamet served as the Superintendent of Comstock Public Schools from 1976-2001. After his death in 2020, the Comstock Board of Education unanimously approved naming the athletic complex in his honor. The scope of the site improvements includes a new entrance and ticket office as well as new restroom facilities. The project is expected to be completed in the Fall.

We are grateful to the Comstock community for approving the 2016 bond which is making these improvements possible. Please join us to celebrate a Comstock leader by developing an athletic complex that would make him proud.
