Kalamazoo County announced on Apr. 15 that it is seeking to hire 40 new employees for summer positions in its parks department, including roles as Grounds Maintenance Crew and Customer Service Representatives. The pay rate for these positions is $16.42 per hour.

The hiring initiative aims to support the upkeep and operations of county parks during the busy summer months, when visitation typically increases and maintenance needs rise. The available jobs are intended to help ensure that local parks remain clean, safe, and welcoming for all visitors.

Grounds Maintenance Crew members will work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, focusing on maintaining park grounds and facilities. Those interested in customer-facing roles can apply for Customer Service Representative positions, which offer a variety of shifts including evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays to provide flexibility.

Applicants must be able to commit between 20 and 40 hours per week. Additional requirements include having a high school diploma or GED certification, being at least 18 years old, and possessing a valid Michigan driver’s license.

The county encouraged interested individuals to apply online. These seasonal opportunities are expected to provide valuable experience while supporting the community’s recreational spaces throughout the summer.
