The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners has re-elected its leadership team for another year. At a meeting held on January 6, Commissioner Jen Strebs was chosen to continue as Chair, Commissioner John Taylor as Vice Chair, and Commissioner Jeff Heppler as Vice Chair Pro Tem. All three were elected unanimously by the board.
This marks the second consecutive term for Strebs as Chair. Taylor will serve his third straight year in the role of Vice Chair, while Heppler continues in the position of Vice Chair Pro Tem, a role created in 2023 when the board updated its bylaws to expand leadership positions.
Chair Strebs commented on the board’s recent work and future plans: “We are immensely proud of the work that we have done in 2025, from helping residents with medical debt to the ‘Keys to Kalamazoo’ Draft Housing Framework, and everything in between,” said Strebs. “But looking ahead, we know there is still work to do. We are excited to dive in and continue serving Kalamazoo County.”
The addition of a Vice Chair Pro Tem was intended to provide greater representation from both political parties during agenda-setting processes.
Members of the public can attend upcoming Board of Commissioners meetings either in person at the County Administration Building or online via kalcounty.gov/board-meetings.
