Kalamazoo Public Schools has launched a search for a new superintendent.

The KPS Board of Education has hired the search firm of Ray & Associates to help guide the search and is now seeking public input to help craft the search profile.

Members of the public and staff are invited to comment on the qualities and qualifications they would like to see in the district’s next leader. The survey will remain open until March 20, 2023.

The board selected Ray & Associates as its search firm at a special meeting on Feb. 20. Ray & Associates is a national search firm that has specialized in education executive leadership searches since 1975. The firm is working with the board to establish a timeline for the search, which will include numerous community input sessions targeting staff, parents, community partners, and students.

The board hopes to have a new superintendent in place by July 2023.

Cindy Green, a former KPS assistant superintendent for teaching and learning services, is serving as interim superintendent.
