Residential Rental Ordinance

0Comments

In response to concerns about the quality of rental housing standards, City Council has enacted ordinance 286, requiring landlords to register their properties with the City each year. Annual inspections will ensure that landlords maintain minimum livability standards and safe living conditions in each of their rental units.

“This is something that we have needed for a long time,” said Councilwoman Judy Lemon. “We have people who are renting residences that are in very poor shape. For their health and safety, this ordinance is necessary.”

SafeBuilt, the City’s ordinance enforcement partner, will help administer the rental unit registration and inspection program.
