CITY OF KALAMAZOO PUBLIC SAFETY: Bank Robbed By Armed Suspect

City of Kalamazoo Public Safety issued the following announcement on Aug. 27.

On August 27, 2019 Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the 1600 block of E. Cork St, Omni Credit Union, for a report of a Robbery in progress. Bank employees advised that a male suspect, armed with a handgun entered the bank at approximately 10:33 am, demanding money from employees. During the robbery the suspect fired shots while inside the bank. Nobody was injured during the incident. The suspect left on foot a short time after entering the business. Officers searched the area but the suspect was not located. An unknown amount of cash was taken.

The suspect is described as a black male in his thirties approximately six foot tall with a slender build wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, black pants, dark colored gloves and had his face covered by a red and black bandanna. The suspect was armed with a silver handgun. The suspect left on foot a short time after entering the business. Officers searched the area but the suspect was not located. An unknown amount of cash was taken.
