City of Kalamazoo issued the following announcement on Jan 29.
The City of Kalamazoo will be holding meetings to gain feedback on Adult Use Marihuana to develop a framework for the creation of an ordinance.
The first set of meetings has been scheduled for early February:
Date | Time | Meeting Location |
Wednesday, February 5 | 3 to 5 p.m. | City Commission Chambers at City Hall (241 W. South Street) |
Tuesday, February 11 | 6:30 to 8 p.m. | City Commission Chambers at City Hall (241 W. South Street) |
On October 7, 2019 the City Commission adopted Ordinance 2000, which delays until June 1, 2020 the City’s opt-in to adult-use marihuana facilities. Adoption of this ordinance permitted City staff to bring proposed zoning and licensing ordinances to the City Commission in conformance with the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act, which was adopted by voter initiative in November 2018.
Additional meetings/engagement opportunities will be scheduled in early March to review draft sections of the ordinance.
