Following the presentation will be an opportunity for community members to share their input.

In addition to the series of neighborhood meetings, the Kalamazoo City Commission will meet for a Work Session on Monday, March 23 to discuss the draft ordinance. The work session is also open to the public and will be held in the City Commission Chambers at City Hall (241 W South Street) starting at 5:30pm.

City staff continues to work in accordance with the timeline established to bring the proposed zoning and licensing ordinances to the City Commission for adoption before June 1, 2020. On October 7, 2019 the City Commission adopted Ordinance 2000, which delays until June 1, 2020 the City’s opt-in to adult-use marihuana facilities. This ordinance was adopted to allow time for local ordinances and zoning to be updated in accordance with community wishes and in conformance with the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act, which was adopted by voter initiative in November 2018.
