CITY OF KALAMAZOO: Availability of Building Permits and Inspections Under Executive Order No. 2020-70

City of Kalamazoo issued the following announcement on May 6.

The City of Kalamazoo will resume processing all building permit applications on Monday, May 11. This service is being resumed to support construction activities that are permitted to restart on May 7. 

The Governor’s Executive Order No. 2020-70 revises the Stay Home, Stay Safe executive order to permit construction activities, work done in the building trades (plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, and similar workers), and other work that is traditionally or primarily done outdoors. This new order takes effect May 7.

Individuals seeking permits are strongly encouraged to apply and pay online:

  • Payments can be made online here: https://bsaonline.com/OnlinePayment/OnlinePaymentSearch?PaymentApplicationType=7&uid=233
  • Applicants can also pay by phone by calling (866) 273-5523.
Printed forms may be completed and submitted with payment by mail to City of Kalamazoo, Building & Trades, 241 W South Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007 or placed in the drop box located behind City Hall on St. John’s Place (near Lovell). Completed forms can also be submitted via email to cokdevelopmentcenter@kalamazoocity.org. Staff will begin processing permits received by mail, including those received during the closure of facilities, starting Wednesday, May 13.
