The City of Kalamazoo issued the following announcement on Oct. 12.
Happy Indigenous Peoples Day! In 2017, the Kalamazoo City Commission unanimously passed a resolution recognizing Indigenous Peoples Day, an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the heritage, resiliency and cultural significance of Indigenous Peoples.
Indigenous Peoples Day is also an opportunity to promote appreciation, tolerance, reconciliation, understanding and friendship with and among all people and the Indigenous Peoples of this county.
