Kalamazoo Public Schools teacher Dave Staiger donates $58 to Bernard Sanders' campaign

Dave Staiger, a teacher at Kalamazoo Public Schools, donated $58 to Democratic Party candidate Bernard Sanders, according to the Federal Election Commission.

According to records, there have been $83 in campaign contributions made by individuals affiliated with Kalamazoo Public Schools as of November 3. Approximately 69.9 percent, or $58, of these contributions were made to Democratic Party candidates and committees.

Dave Staiger's contribution was the largest contribution made by someone affiliated with Kalamazoo Public Schools since January 1, 2019.

According to an Inside Higher Ed analysis of federal elections data, individuals that were affiliated with colleges and universities have donated five times more money to Joe Biden than to President Trump. A study by Pew Research in 2017 found that 58 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents thought colleges and universities have a negative impact on the way things are going in this country.
