Rental Registration Program

Government

City of Charlotte issued the following announcement on Aug 18.

The City Council passed an ordinance to enact a rental registration program later this fall. Residential properties that are not owner-occupied will need to register with the city and pass a safety inspection to ensure compliance with standards found in the International Property Maintenance Code. The city will be phasing in the registration and inspection requirements for existing rental property owners, beginning in November.

This is part of a larger effort to ensure city-wide compliance with property maintenance standards for all residential and commercial properties in the city. More information will be posted as we move forward in this process.
