Scholarship Night

Scholarships

Comstock Public Schools issued the following announcement on Oct 1.

Scholarship Night will be held at CHS on October 20th from 6-7:30pm! This event is a chance for seniors and their families to learn about the scholarship process to maximize the amount of free money they earn!

There will be presentations from Mr. Cotter, The Kalamazoo Community Foundation, and MI Student Aid to ensure you have all the knowledge you need to make college affordable.

Additionally there will be a drawing for a $100 book scholarship for those who attend. Please mark your calendars!

Here's some other news that may be relevant to those of you interested in Scholarship Night:

FAFSA is officially open!

FAFSA, also known as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is the first and best way to secure financial aid for college. In order for a college to send you a financial aid package offer, you MUST have a FAFSA on file.

Before starting the FAFSA, both student and parent/guardian must create an FSA ID (see link). This acts as a username and electronic signature for the FAFSA.

Please see this checklist of items needed for the FAFSA before starting. Please note that you may not have each item, and if this is the case you likely won't need it!

If you need assistance with the FAFSA, arrange a meeting with Mr. Cotter!

College Applications

College Applications should be finalized and submitted this month! As many colleges have November 1st deadlines for maximum scholarship consideration, it's a great idea to have all college apps submitted before the end of the month.

Mr. Cotter is available for all application help. Whether it's proofreading essays/personal statements or reviewing before officially submitting, he is there to help!
