City of Portage issued the following announcement on Dec 10.

The City of Portage encourages housing developers, nonprofits, and supportive service agencies to submit proposals and apply for the housing millage funds that were levied on December 1, 2021, to address the affordable housing crisis in Kalamazoo County.  The housing millage, approved by voters in November 2020, will provide rental subsidies, permanent housing, and related services for residents of Kalamazoo County over the next eight years.

For those interested in submitting proposals, there is mandatory training for applicants on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 4 PM via Zoom (details below).  After the training, the online portal will be live for applicants to submit proposals online.

The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners is expected to evaluate projects and award millage funding in early 2022.  For additional information, please refer to the Kalamazoo County press release, dated Dec 7, 2021, which can be viewed here: https://www.kalcounty.com/userfiles/pressreleases/Press%20Release%20to%20open%20up%20online%20portal%20002%20002.pdf.
