Volunteers Wanted!

Are you looking for a way to serve your community? The City needs volunteers to serve on Boards and Committees. These roles provide a way for you to give back and provide input on city matters. We currently have openings for the following opportunities. To apply, please complete the application form available here.

  • City Council, District 1, partial term (through November 2023) – 1 Member
City Council has a vacancy created by the resignation of a member in District 1. To be eligible for this appointment, interested persons must meet the qualifications per City Charter, including residing in District 1 and being an elector for a period of not less than six months preceding appointment. This seat must be filled within 30 days. Applications must be submitted by noon on Friday, May 14th to the City Clerk. The City Council will review candidates at the Council meeting of Monday, May 16th.

  • Downtown Development Authority – 2 Members, term through 2024
The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) was established to halt property value deterioration, increase property tax valuation, eliminate the cause of deterioration and promote economic growth within the downtown district.  This Board consists of 9 members who serve staggered, four-year terms; the City Manager or Mayor and 8 members appointed by the Mayor subject to the approval of the City Council. Both seats are for a partial term appointment through 2024.

  • Charlotte Area Recreation Co-Op – 1 Member
The Charlotte Area Recreation Co-Op is a collaborative effort between the City, Eaton Township, and Carmel Township to facilitate and support recreational opportunities in the city and townships. The City has two representatives of the seven-member Board. This opportunity is for a two-year term.

  • Ad Hoc Water Treatment Committee – 3 Members
This committee is a temporary assignment to study options for consideration of construction of a water treatment system or other water system improvements. The committee’s work includes conducting town hall meetings and surveying for public input and feedback. The committee will convene over the course of the year and make a recommendation to Council in December.
