The City of Holland is partnering with the Macatawa Area Coordinating Council (MACC) and ODC Network to install rain gardens, bioswales, and native plantings at City Hall and Kollen Park. These practices manage rainwater by diverting it out of the City's storm sewer system.
- Rain gardens collect stormwater and allow it to soak into the ground.
- Bioswales work similarly; however, water flows through and some still goes into the storm sewer system.
Funding is provided by a Great Lakes Restoration Initiative grant held by the MACC. The project design team includes Drummond Carpenter, PLLC, and Fishbeck. Construction will be managed by Al's Excavating and will begin at City Hall in late May and at Kollen Park in mid-June.
