The City of Portage Department of Public Safety, Portage Youth Advisory Committee, and the Breakfast Optimist Club of Kalamazoo have teamed up again to host the annual “Respect for Law” event this Friday, August 5. The event will take place at Ramona Park (8600 South Sprinkle Road) at a new time from 6:00 to 8:30 PM.
”Respect for Law” will feature law enforcement staff and displays by the Portage Public Safety Bike Patrol and 4x4, Portage K-9 Team, Kalamazoo Bomb Squad, Kalamazoo County Sheriff, the Michigan State Police 100th Anniversary Patrol Car, a Portage Fire Division aerial apparatus, Pride Ambulance, and more.
New for this year are interactive and educational displays, such as a fire obstacle course, bike registration, self-defense education, and more.
The event is FREE and open to the public. Coffee Rescue of Portage will be onsite selling concessions.
