Authority of: Sgt. Braidwood
On the above date, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by an outside agency and informed that a vehicle belonging to an Oshtemo resident was possibly involved in a carjacking in Allegan County. Upon deputies making contact with the registered owner, it was determined that their vehicle was stolen overnight.
With the registered owner being able to track the vehicle, they were able to lead deputies and members of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety directly to the vehicle. When KDPS located the stolen truck it was seen traveling with a second vehicle that was stolen from the Plainwell area. At that time both vehicles fled from law enforcement. KDPS successfully located and apprehended the driver of the stolen pickup while deputies were able to locate the second stolen vehicle and apprehend the suspects.
With the quick action of the Sheriff’s Deputies and the Public Safety Officers of KDPS, all suspects were taken into custody without further incident. This is still an ongoing investigation with possible further information to come.
Anyone who may have further information is asked to contact the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office at 269-383-8748 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100. Information can also be reported online at www.kalamazoosilentobserver.com.
