Are you looking for a way to serve your community? The City needs volunteers to serve on Boards and Committees. These roles provide a way for you to give back and provide input on city matters. Members are appointed by the Mayor subject to the approval of the City Council. We currently have openings for the following opportunities. Board of Review – 2 Members
The Board of Review consists of 6 citizens (5 members and 1 alternate) who live in the City. The Board of Review meets on several occasions throughout the year but its primary duty is to hear property valuation and classification appeals when it meets in March. Board members receive a stipend for meetings and training is provided by the City. The 2023 Board of Review meetings are scheduled on the following dates:
• Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 10:00 am
• Monday March 13, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm
• Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
• Tuesday, July 18, 2022 at 10:00 am
• Tuesday, December 13, 2023 at 10:00 am
Downtown Development Authority – 3 Members
The Downtown Development Authority Board is made up of 9 members who serve to promote economic growth, increase property tax valuation, halt property value deterioration where possible in the business district. The DDA Board is tasked with developing long-range plans for the downtown district and implement such plans to advance the economic growth of the area. The Board meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm at City Hall Council Chambers.
Airport Advisory Board – 1 Member
The Airport Advisory Board is established to provide advice and recommendations to the City Council, City Manager, and Airport Manager on the maintenance, procedures, and policies related to the operation of the Fitch H. Beach Municipal Airport. The Board includes five members who serve three-year terms, along with three non-voting ex-officio members. The Advisory Board meets at Fitch Beach Airport, 1325 Island Hwy, Charlotte at 8:00 a.m. the 3rd Monday of January, April, July, and October.
Camp Frances – 1 Member
The Camp Frances Educational and Recreational Center is a municipal nonprofit corporation created by the Charlotte City Council to continue the work of a predecessor private nonprofit organization. The Board of Directors is appointed by the City Council to oversee activities and programs at Camp Frances. This Board consists of 9 members who serve staggered, four-year terms. The Board meets at Camp Frances Building, 1501 S Cochran Rd., Charlotte at 6:30 p.m. the 2nd Tuesday of the month.
