Winter Property Tax Payments Due!

City of Portage | Free CCO Credit

City of Portage | Free CCO Credit

The 2022 winter tax bills for the City of Portage are due by 5 PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

Property owners who have not received their winter tax bill or have questions may contact the Portage Treasury Office (269) 329-4455. Property tax information is also available at portagemi.gov/154. Property tax information is updated daily. Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the property owner of the responsibility for payment of the tax and applicable fees.

PAYMENT OPTIONS:

MAIL to City of Portage, 7900 South Westnedge Avenue, Portage, MI 49002. Please include your payment and the bottom portion of your tax statement. To avoid the 3% late fee, mailed payments must be postmarked by the U.S. Post Office on or before February 14, 2023, and received by the city no later than February 21, 2023. For payments mailed on or a few days before February 14, the Portage Treasury office strongly recommends hand-delivering the payment to the Post office and witnessing the clerk put the postmark on the envelope. In all late-payment disputes, the Portage Treasury Office will rely on the postmark applied by the Postmaster (metered postmarks are not accepted).

A 24-HOUR DROPBOX is located at the south Exit Only door of City Hall, 7900 South Westnedge Avenue, look for the “Drop Box” sign near the curb. Please include your payment and the bottom portion of your tax statement. Payments deposited after 5 PM or on weekends are processed on the next business day.

ONLINE OR BY PHONE with a credit/debit card or E-check payment. Visit portagemi.gov and click on the Online Payments icon or call 1 (844) 943-3997. A processing fee of 3% for online payments or a 3% + $.75 cent fee for phone payment is charged by a third-party vendor (Invoice Cloud).

IN PERSON at the Treasury Office in City Hall Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM in the form of cash, check, credit/debit card, or money order. Please be aware that if you make your payment via credit/debit card you will be charged a 3% processing fee by a third-party vendor (Invoice Cloud).

Payments made by check authorizes the city to convert the check to an electronic funds transfer and your bank account may be debited the same day the city receives the check payment.

All 2022 real estate property taxes that remain unpaid on March 1, 2023, will be turned over to the Kalamazoo County Treasurer for collection, where additional fees will be added.
