Western Michigan University (WMU) is facilitating connections between students, recent graduates, and potential employers through its fall 2024 career fairs. These events offer opportunities across various fields, with a new emphasis on digital marketing.
The inaugural DigitalWMU Career Fair on Friday, Sept. 27, will feature businesses and organizations from Chicago to Detroit hiring in digital marketing, media, advertising, customer experience, and analytics.
As one of the few universities offering a rapidly growing digital marketing degree, WMU has gained international recognition for its innovative curriculum. This job fair is part of the Bronco Blitz Digital Career Activation Program, which aims to foster mutual awareness between Great Lakes companies and digitally skilled students.
The Bronco Blitz initiative is funded by a Western Experience-Driven Learning Venture Grant that supports faculty-led projects enhancing the university's commitment to experience-driven education.
"I've watched our digital marketing program more than quadruple in size in a few short years," said Dr. Scott Cowley, associate professor of marketing and director of the Digital Marketing and eCommerce Program. "These initiatives reflect how we're shifting our focus to elevate these students' career outcomes."
Cowley emphasized the importance of raising WMU's profile among companies: "It's equally important to raise our profile among the companies who may be unaware of this great talent source we offer at WMU."
The fall semester career fair season begins Wednesday, Sept. 18, and concludes with a healthcare networking event on Thursday, Nov. 14.
