FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments from January to September 2024.

In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at DeKalb Times have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140). The request, sent on September 26, 2024, seeks detailed information about all payments made to vendors by Dekalb County from January 1, 2024 till September 26, 2024.

The specific details requested include the name of each vendor paid during this period, the date of each transaction, a description of each transaction, and the amount paid. This information is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe that access to such public records is crucial. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await a response from Dekalb County and will continue our efforts to bring transparency and accountability in local government affairs.
