The Western Michigan University (WMU) Board of Trustees is set to hold a special virtual meeting on Wednesday, October 16, at 10 a.m. The agenda includes discussions on economic compensation, healthcare benefits, and insurance adjustments in the employee agreement with the WMU chapter of the American Association of University Professors (WMU-AAUP). This meeting will be available for viewing via livestream at wmich.edu/trustees.

This development follows a tentative agreement reached earlier in October between negotiators from both the WMU administration and WMU-AAUP. The union's membership has ratified this tentative agreement, which now awaits approval from the trustees.

Among the proposed changes are a retroactive 4% wage increase for 2024-25 and a subsequent 3.25% wage increase for 2025-26. Additionally, there is a proposal for a one-time payment of $1,000 to be issued in the 2025-26 period.

The board's full agenda is accessible online for those seeking more information. Individuals wishing to address the board during public comment must contact Dr. Kahler Schuemann by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15.
