Speaker of the House Matt Hall has issued a statement in light of the Court of Claims' verdict concerning nine bills that were not forwarded to the governor before the previous legislative session ended.

“I’ve been saying since the beginning that the Senate could not sue a Speaker of the House because of a political disagreement and that the Court could not force the House to present bills from a previous session," said Speaker Hall.

He described the Senate's decision to take legal action against him as "clearly politically motivated, completely unprecedented, and – as the Court agrees – illegal," adding, "That was an embarrassing mistake by the Senate."

Furthermore, Speaker Hall expressed his appreciation for the judge's recognition of the House's autonomy in managing its internal affairs. "We will include the judge’s ruling in our ongoing thorough legal review of this situation,” he noted.
