High Wind Watch

City of Galesburg issued the following announcement on Dec 10.

The Office of Emergency Management indicates that a high wind watch remains in effect through Saturday.

Tonight:

A few severe thunderstorms are possible from 11 PM to 7 AM in the Kalamazoo area. The strongest thunderstorms tonight may produce local wind damage to trees and power lines. Heavier storms may produce some localized ponding of water in poor drainage areas, but widespread flooding is not expected.

Saturday:

Strong winds, not related to overnight thunderstorms, will develop in the morning, then diminish in the evening. Wind gust will could reach 50 mph or above. Numerous power outages, some widespread, are possible.

Sunday:

Expect favorable "recovery" weather, with dry conditions, above-freezing temps, and reduced wind speeds.
