City of Lansing issued the following announcement on Mar 9.

Lisa is an artist who works in, perhaps, one of the most fickle mediums: snow. Her latest creation was a giant frog, which happily sat on the front yard of her house in Old Town — until the weather warmed and melted the then-frozen amphibian.

“I try to make at least one per year, but the snow has to be just right,” says Lisa. “The temperature needs to be right at 32 degrees Fahrenheit.” She starts by making snowballs, about the size of basketballs, to then shape into a sculpture using her trusty Ginsu knife. Any given one could be made up of 100 little snowballs.

Lisa began snow sculpting in 8th grade. One year, she made a snowman with the head of Abraham Lincoln. Another year, she sculpted a giant lady’s foot with a bow. In 1988, she won a contest with her 25-foot-tall dragon.

“I like to make people smile and laugh,” Lisa says. “Sometimes I just do weird stuff.”
