Kalamazoo, Michigan, residents will be able to participate in the annual egg hunt at Mayors’ Riverfront Park April 16 from 2 to 4 p.m.

“We are so excited for this springtime tradition to return to Mayors’ Riverfront Park this year,” said Shannon Keene, special events coordinator for Kzoo Parks. “Come celebrate spring with us at the Annual Egg Hunt on April 16.”

The event will feature crafts, games and three egg hunts, with thousands of Easter eggs, for children under the age of 9 at Homer Stryker Field, according to a March 15 press release. Children will participate in the egg hunts according to their age bracket.

“Each child will receive a bag of candy and a toy after their hunt and there will also be drawings for prizes and gift baskets,” the release stated. “Prize drawings will take place when each age group exits the field.”

The Kalamazoo Growlers will set up bounce houses and food booths, and a fire truck and K-9 unit will be on hand courtesy of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, according to the release. Children’s Nature Playscape will also provide Earth Day-related games.

The event will be the first of its kind in two years as the COVID-19 pandemic caused the city offer in-home activities rather than in-person events, the release stated.

The event is free and open to everyone, however, according to the city, the egg hunts are geared toward families with children.
