You’re likely aware that the state of Michigan is in the midst of a bus driver shortage. Comstock’s Transportation Department has been fortunate over the past few years to have averted the need to cancel bus routes as a result of these shortages. Many of our neighboring districts have resorted to such “rolling” route cancellations as a standard practice.
Our Transportation Department has been made aware that we will not be sufficiently staffed on Monday to run all of our bus routes as normal. As a result, bus #93 will not be in operation on Monday, September 26, 2022, and alternate transportation will be required for students who would normally ride Bus #93 both to and from school.
We understand that this will be a hardship for everyone, and that some families will have a difficult time arranging for transportation. We apologize for this inconvenience, and we are doing everything in our power to add qualified drivers to our staff. Please make every effort to ensure that your student is at school on Monday.
We take some comfort in knowing that the weekend might provide families such as yours a bit more time to make schedule changes, or coordinate a carpool with friends or family members.
Our hope is that this will not become a routine occurrence during the 2022-23 school year. That said, if you know of anyone who might be interested in joining our transportation department, please refer them to visit www.ComstockPS.org/hr to see our current job offerings.
