HÔU JIA Kitchen and Bar has opened its doors at the Western Michigan University Student Center, offering a menu inspired by Taiwanese street food. The restaurant, which occupies the space formerly known as The Pub on the first floor of the student center, is part of the Hunan Gardens family.
The menu features ramen noodles, bento boxes, boba and bubble tea, as well as beer and wine. According to Jim Chiang, owner of HÔU JIA Kitchen and Bar, “We wanted to recreate the lively, bustling atmosphere of the markets—a space where students and community members can come together. Through this experience, we hope to spark cultural exchange and connection, using food as a way to celebrate and share the heart of our heritage.”
Paul Terzino, director of the student center, expressed enthusiasm about the new addition. "We couldn't be more excited to welcome HÔU JIA to the student center," he said.
In addition to dining options, Terzino noted that HÔU JIA Kitchen and Bar is expected to serve as a venue for live entertainment and events. "Our vision is to energize the space with programming, whether it's a registered student organization or a performance by the music department. It’s a place to come and enjoy a good meal and also enjoy some entertainment from time to time," he said.
More information about HÔU JIA Kitchen and Bar’s hours and menu can be found on its webpage.
