Western Michigan University has announced its schedule for the Thanksgiving recess in 2025. Classes will end at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 26, and resume at 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 1.
During the recess period from Nov. 27 to Nov. 30, several campus offices and services will be closed or have limited hours. The university advises students, faculty, staff, and the public to call ahead before visiting any office on campus to confirm whether it is open. For emergencies during this time, individuals should contact WMU’s Department of Public Safety at 911; for non-emergencies, the number is (269) 488-8911.
Office closures apply mainly to non-represented university employees. However, many represented employees may have scheduled workdays on Nov. 27 and Nov. 28 because some university services continue through the holiday period. These employees are encouraged to speak with their management if they have questions.
Admissions, Bronco Express, and student transitions offices will be closed from Nov. 27 through Nov. 30.
The aviation shuttle service will operate until noon on Nov. 26 but will not run on Nov. 27 or Nov. 28; service resumes on Nov. 29 and continues through Dec. 14.
The Help Desk will offer support via phone and email until 5 p.m. on Nov. 26 and reopen at 8 a.m., Dec. 1.
Metro Transit service for Ring Road, Solon Kendall, and Parkview routes will stop operating at noon on Nov. 26 and resume service Dec. 1.
Miller Auditorium closes at 5 p.m., Nov. 26 and reopens at noon on Dec. 1.
Sindecuse Health Center—including its pharmacy—will close for two days (Nov. 27-28) before returning to regular weekday hours starting Dec.1; medical emergencies should be directed to local hospitals or healthcare providers during this closure.
Student Center Dining and Valley Dining Center close beginning at 2 p.m., Nov.26 through Nov.30; both reopen at 7 a.m., Dec .1.
The Student Recreation Center building closes starting at 2 p.m., Nov .26 (with its main office open until4 p.m.)and reopens at5 p.m.onNov .30.The pool , sauna ,and climbing wall remain closed throughout this period .
Unified Clinics are closed November27–28,and return to normal hours beginning8a .m .,Dec .1 .

Hours for the WMU Student Center will be posted when available .
To reduce energy costs during the break , heating and cooling systems in buildings managed by WMU’s energy management system will shift into holiday mode unless exempted ; temperatures inside these spaces will remain between60and85degrees.Parts of buildings that do not normally enter night setback mode also won’t enter holiday mode .
Employees are reminded: "Shut off and unplug all nonessential electronics before the long weekend."
